Our Community

Ongerup is small in size but big in country spirit. The town has everything you need day‑to‑day — a general store, post office, farm supplies, tyre and mechanical services, a roadhouse, the local pub (which we’re part‑owners of), and the Malleefowl Centre and Café, where you can see captive malleefowl up close and learn about this endangered local species.

We’re only an hour from Bremer Bay, a coastal holiday town known for its crystal‑clear water, white sand and some of the best beaches in WA. It’s a great spot for fishing, camping and 4WD adventures, and from January to April you can often see orca pods on local boat tours — one of the only places in the world where they reliably gather.

Albany is 1.5 hours away and has everything you’d expect from a regional city — supermarkets, retail, medical services, cafés, beaches and national‑level attractions like the National Anzac Centre. Perth is around 4.5 hours away for bigger trips.

We’re also a short drive from the Stirling Ranges National Park, home to Bluff Knoll — the tallest peak in southern WA and the only place in the state that occasionally gets snow. The park is full of wildflowers, hiking trails and incredible views. Wave Rock is only a few hours away too, one of WA’s most iconic natural landmarks.

Ongerup might be small, but it’s a great base for exploring the region, enjoying the outdoors and becoming part of a close, welcoming rural community.
